Exmar’s barge-based FSRU completed

Belgium’s Exmar, the Nicolas Savery-led shipowner said the construction of its barge-based FSRU has reached substantial completion.
Delivery will be taken as soon as the yard is ready and financing is in the documentation phase, the company said in its quarterly report.
The unit has been shortlisted for two LNG import terminals, and if confirmed the start of operations is expected in mid-2018.
The company confirmed that several negotiations are ongoing in parallel for the employment of the Caribbean FLNG, including the recently reported project to export LNG from Iran.
Awaiting outcome of these, the unit remains at the yard and all measures for the preservation of the onboard equipment has been taken, Exmar said.
Exmar dips into red in Q3
The company reported a net loss of $19.9 million for the third quarter, compared to a 29.2 million profit during the corresponding quarter of 2016, on IFRS.
Exmar said in its quarterly report had an operating result for the first nine months of 2017 of $16 million compared to $54.6 million for the same period last year.
The operating results for the first nine months of 2017 have been negatively impacted by a $22.1 million impairment on the LNG carrier Excel in the second quarter and positively impacted by a $31.0 million capital gain on the sale of Belgibo in August.
The financial results have been negatively impacted by the unrealized exchange loss and other costs related to the extended NOK bond.
