Lithuania’s natural gas supply and trading company Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas booked 960 GWh of additional capacity at the Klaipeda LNG import terminal.
Klaipedos Nafta, the terminal operator on Wednesday said that this is the second time during the current gas year Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas has contracted additional LNG regasification capacity.
The company, part of the state-controlled Lietuvos Energija, previously booked the same amount of regasification capacities in June this year.
According to KN, Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas booked the additional capacity for the period o August 1 until October 31, 2017.
Lithuania, the largest of the three Baltic nations, started importing the chilled fuel via Höegh LNG’s FSRU Independence in December 2014 in order to reduce its dependence on Russian pipeline gas supplies.
Besides LDT, the two other LNG terminal users are the Lithuanian fertilizer producer Achema and another Lietuvos Energija company, Litgas.
Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas informed earlier that it has also signed a trade agreement with Spain’s Gas Natural Fenosa and purchased its second LNG cargo sourced from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass liquefaction terminal in Louisiana.
