South Korean shipbuilder, Hyundai Heavy Industries said it has built an LNG carrier demonstration facility at is headquarters in Ulsan.
According to the company, this ‘first of its kind’ facility will enable customers to verify performance and major components of LNG carriers.
The company built a 25 MW LNG fuel supply system demonstration facility in 2012 with an additional 85 MW facility in 2015.
HHI added that the company has completed LNG regasification system demonstration facilities, with investment in such systems reaching 10 billion won ($8.8 million) in total in 2017.
The latest facility gathers and compares design performance and actual performance in various situations. The company has already verified the performance of its Hi-Gas LNG fuel supply system through this facility.
