Peru’s only liquefaction facility at Pampa Melchorita shipped its third cargo of liquefied natural gas to Argentina.
According to the shipping data by the state-owned Perupetro, the 138,000-cbm Bilbao Knutsen LNG carrier loaded a cargo on June 12, and set course to Argentina.
Although Perupetro has not confirmed the exact destination of the vessel, the AIS data provided by the vessel tracking website MarineTraffic shows the vessel as heading for the GNL Escobar located on the Parana River, some 30 miles outside Buenos Aires. Delivery is expected on June 25, the data shows.
The LNG export facility also dispatched a fifth consecutive cargo to Spain, on June 9, onboard the 145,000-cbm Methane Jane Elizabeth.
The 4.45 million tons per year gas liquefaction plant is located 170 kilometers south of Lima and receives gas via a 408-kilometer pipeline built across the Andes.
With the two latest cargoes, the facility has dispatched 403 vessels in total since it started operations in June 2010.
