China, world’s largest energy consumer, boosted its imports of the chilled fuel in April by 15.6 percent year-on-year.
China’s LNG imports rose to 2.17 million mt last month, according to the data by the General Administration of Customs.
In the first four months of the year, China imported 9.96 million mt of chilled gas, the data shows.
The country is the world’s third-biggest LNG importer, behind South Korea and the top LNG buyer, Japan.
Its imports rose 33 percent to 26.06 million mt in 2016.
